Our Mission & Values

Our mission, as a small family-run business, is to provide our residents with the highest quality apartments in centralized locations. We strive to know all of our tenants personally and pride ourselves on having many long-term residents. We subsequently rent our apartments to those who value personal service and attention to detail.

Local

We support both local suppliers, contractors and hardware stores. We love supporting small, family-run businesses like our own.

Eco-Friendly

When possible, we always strive to use 100% Eco-Friendly products while cleaning and renovating our apartments. We also offer composting at all of our properties.

Quality

We pride ourselves in taking adequate time to complete thorough renovations while using the highest quality products. Our apartments feature stainless steel appliances and real hardwood floors.

My girlfriend and I made our first home at Finer Court and we had a great experience. We loved the neighborhood and everyone in the building was very nice. We also really enjoyed the communal garden in the back and the landscaped courtyard. Erica and John were great landlords, responsive to all our needs as tenants and very approachable.

Our Crew

John Swanson

Owner

In 1995, John sold his farm in Canby, Oregon and used the proceeds to buy two buildings. Since then, he has slowly grown the business. John isn't your typical apartment owner. He lives in a small home off Mississippi Avenue and you can often find him helping out with renovation and maintenance work. John speaks Spanish, French and some Mandarin. He enjoys meditating, riding his bike and traveling.

Max Vargas

Renovation Artist

Max has been working with Little Beirut Properties for over 10 years now! He is as close to family as it gets. Max is in charge of all renovation and maintenance work. If you have a beautifully renovated apartment, it is all due to Max's expertise! If you have a maintenance request, he will tackle it within 24 hours. All of our residents know Max and appreciate his friendly and hardworking demeanor. When Max is not working, you can catch him cheering on his kids at their soccer games or taking a weekend trip to the coast! Max speaks both Spanish and English.

Victoria Dinu

Erica Indira

Erica has been watching her father John, manage apartment buildings since she was a young girl. After moving back to Portland from a few years abroad, she dove into the business and has loved it ever since. Beyond work, she enjoys traveling, Crossfit, walking her dog Ponyo, drinking tea, practicing yoga, cooking, and learning new languages. She speaks Mandarin and Spanish.

Ashley Major

Leasing Specialist

Ashley is the newest addition to the Little Beirut Properties crew. We feel so lucky to have her on our team. Hailing from Toronto, Ashley recently made the move, via Richmond, VA, to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Having grown up with a realtor Mom, she gained most of her experience watching her mother buy and lease homes. When not showing apartments for Little Beirut Properties, Ashley is practicing yoga, killing it at Crossfit, or going on a run around NE. Ashley has a B.A in both English Literature and Women's Studies, and a minor in French Literature.

Living here has been a wonderful experience, I couldn’t ask for better neighbors. Also, you and your father have been, without hyperbole, probably the best landlords I’ve had. And I’ll definitely miss the pool. Certainly hope to be invited back for any future shindigs!

I lived at Finer Court for four years and would not have left had I not moved out of state. The central courtyard is so beautiful, and my neighbors were friendly. My studio was cozy and lovely. I will miss this place!
